Juxtaposition Cross of Listening
13/7 | 43/23
›Description
Think about the transition we have just had from being the Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx, with the Personality Sun in that 13th gate and its concern with the past, with its own process with the past, and trying to root out failure in the past. If it can't root that out and rebuild, then it is going to suffer its pessimism and end up a martyr - those kinds of things.
Here we have a sudden shift; we have a shift into a very fixed process. This fixed fate, the Juxtaposition Cross of Listening, with a 13 gate that is all about the capacity inherent in us to be able to listen. It's about collecting the experiences of others.
When you have a Sphinx configuration, the Sphinx is naturally there to transform what it takes in and to give it to another as a direction. It just does; it doesn't know it's doing that. If you tell Sphinxes that they are doing that, particularly right angles, they start putting badges on. But the moment that you get to this fixed fate, it is something that can be very, very uncomfortable, because these are people who come into the world to listen, but not to speak. They have enormous difficulty in being able to explain themselves.
An interesting shift has taken place, as we have moved from the 1 and the 2 being at the design level to now having the 43 and the 23. That 43/23 is going to bring a definition, because it is an opposition, not only in the zodiac. but it also forms the Channel of Individuality between the ajna center and the throat. However; despite the fact that the throat is activated, there is something deeply troubling to the 23 gate experience.
The 23rd gate is not like the collective process in the throat. The 62nd gate translates a picture and comes up with detail logically, because they are translating a pattern directly. The abstract process in the 56th gate is about translating a moving picture, rather than a pattern, and a movement or an experience is being described. But individuality is unique and mutative; there is no formal background, nothing is established, and there is no Solomon's world where nothing is new. In this Cross of Listening, there is a tremendous amount of pressure, and these people can be very, very uncomfortable because they can have enormous difficulty in expressing themselves. Yet at the same time they are the great listeners, great listeners. They know secrets that no one will ever, ever hear. They've always been around. They are a kind of magical part of the Sphinx off to side.
Although one arm of this cross is still the 13/7, and it still carries with it its Sphinx power, all of a sudden there is this shift in the mental plane. The 23 gate, unlike the collective process of the mind, which is based on vision, is based in individuality and is acoustic. In other words, the 43 is the sound one hears in the head, a sound that one hears and says, "I've got it now; I've got it now." But it doesn't mean that they are going to be able to express it out of that 23d gate. As a matter of fact, the Juxtaposition Cross of Listening could be called the Cross of Stuttering. There can be many, many problems here.
It is very important if you meet somebody with this cross don't torture them, allow them to listen without pressure to share. This is the biggest thing in their life. They are in fact our sentinels; they are listening for all of us. They are collecting experience. What often happens with many of them is that they can ultimately find another venue to be able to get that out. Rarely is it historically correct. In other words, with the 43/23 they tend to find artistic outlets for what they have been listening to. They are great appreciators of music, for example, and are the kind of human being that loves a good lecture. They themselves with all this pressure on them can't get it out. Remember this aspect is a necessary ingredient, we must have it. For everything that is there, you have to see how important it is - not this "oh the poor thing." The fact of the matter is, if they are living out their design, living out their authority and their type, being a listener and not being a talker is their heaven. After all it's what they are here for; and they fulfill a purpose for the totality in that role.
