How the centers connect

›Description

All the defined centers of the bodygraph are joined to one another by whole channels. This gives a sense of constancy, stability and certainty, and an inner feeling of wholeness. The not-self is then concentrated mostly in the open centers. Open channels and gates are of course subject to the not-self as well, but in this situation it is generally held that most of it sits in the centers.

There are theories that people with a single, unbroken definition find it easier to do everything themselves than to work in partnership or in a team. In my own experiment this did not hold up in practice. They partner beautifully. They often like working in pairs. Some are thoroughly collective people. What single definition really gives is the sense of wholeness.

There are three important conclusions here. First, from a psychological perspective, a person with split definition may admit that there seem to be two different people inside, two sub-personalities. Human Design can describe the qualities and characters of these "inner" people more than clearly. Second, on the behavioural level split definition creates a need for other people in order to feel more whole: it is precisely split definition that underlies the romantic propaganda of "finding another in order to become one." Third, there is one more aspect — the missing element that would link the two groups of definition. In terms of conditioning, the element and the qualities behind the missing gate, channel or center will seem extremely important and significant to such a person.

Psychologically, a person with these activations is drawn towards union, as everyone with splits is. But full unity is rarely something they manage to feel: first two of the centers close with each other, then two others.

The result is that the person wants varied contacts. If it is work, there may be two jobs or more. A single job tires them and does not satisfy them 100%. If it is relationships, there is always a separation: family on one side, friends and acquaintances on the other. Among friends they are likewise drawn first to one circle, then to another. About two families I could not say — more likely they will be drawn from family life towards friends. Although everyone is individual.

Four parts of the bodygraph that are not connected to one another. A more than rare phenomenon, implying 8 or 9 defined centers. Just like triples, they do not like relationships with only one person. They are just as slow in making decisions. On top of that, such people dislike public places. A quadruple needs close and trusting relationships with other people. And at the same time, one such other is never enough for them, which makes them, it seems, the only people for whom polygamy is useful…

Undivided definition in the chart shows that energy flows continuously, joining all the defined centers to one another through channels. People with undivided definition are in a sense self-sufficient, because their definition forms a whole, continuous, constant, always present and dependable energy. People with an undivided design usually do not have the need to reflect on different aspects of themselves the way people with splits do. Undivided designs do not need others to help them digest information or to feel whole. They are able to process information quickly — unless, of course, they are emotionally defined.
